This follows the 22nd announcement by the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo on Sunday 17th January, 2021.
A visit to some of the primary schools in Akrofuom, the district capital on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th January, 2021 revealed that most of the pupils have returned to school and partially adhering to the COVID-19 protocols.
At the Akrofuom R/C Primary School, Akrofuom Methodist Primary School, Akrofuom D/A Primary School, it was observed that most of the pupils and teachers were back in school having been away for about ten months since schools were closed.
However, the pupils were seen cleaning the school and tidying up the place for teaching and learning to begin.
The teachers who were interviewed at these government schools disclosed that their schools were yet to take delivery of face masks from government to these pupils. However, they expect the parents to provide for their wards as they await that of the government since majority of pupils do not wear the masks.
The teachers indicated the availability of veronica buckets and liquid soaps for pupils to frequently wash their hands in observing the COVID-19 protocols.
At the Akrofuom Technical and Senior High School (ASHTEC) and the Junior High Schools visited, it was observed that veronica buckets and liquid soaps were placed at the entrance and compounds where pupils had to wash their hands before entering.
The security personnel at ASHTEC made sure each student was in face mask, temperature checked and hand washed, before one is allowed into their premises.
They added that they have been given a mandate to ensure that any pupil on campus was in nose masks at their various entry points.
