INTRODUCTION
The Akrofuom District Assembly through the Environmental Health Unit in collaboration with the Assembly members in their electoral areas has instituted sanitation taskforce to monitor and make sure the community is clean, safe and prevent outbreak of sanitation related diseases in the communities.
In furtherance of the above, the Honorable Assembly member (Edward Peprah) and his taskforce were able to arrest five (5) people practicing open defecation at the back of neighbours premises likely cause cholera outbreak on 30th day of November 2022 respectively.
In view of this, the environmental health office invited the accused persons to come and explain to us why court action should not be instituted against them for their actions.
Four (4) of the accused persons horned the invitation and one was issued with criminal summons to appear before the magistrate court at Obuasi to explain her actions.
The accused persons were given health education on open defecation, environmental sanitation and they were made to pay a fine of seven hundred and eighty Ghana cedis (780.00)

RECOMMENDATION
The Environmental Health Office in collaboration with the community sanitation taskforce will intensify health education in all the various communities on construction of household toilet to help reduced open defecation free in the district.
