The Akrofuom District Assembly, yesterday joined other districts in the region to present its 2024 budget at Obuasi.
The presentation was organized by the Ministry of Finance and the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council to study in open discussion the estimates and expenditures of the Assembly for the ensuing year.
Also, it was organized as part of the 2024-2027 Composite Budget Preparation, to afford the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) the opportunity to scrutinize and guide the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assembly ( MMDAs) and ensure that budget allocations reflected the objectives and strategies of government policies, programs and are in line with 2024-2027 Budget Guidelines as set by the Ministry of Finance.
The presentation of the Assembly highlighted on the estimates, major achievements, core functions and challenges of the Assembly for the 2023 Financial Year whiles highlighting on the key programs and projects of the Assembly.
Some of the major achievements of the Assembly as presented included the construction and Commissioning of two 3units classroom blocks at Takyikrom and Nkoransah, renovation of nurses quarters and Chp Compound at Mensonso, distribution of 250 pieces of dual desks and a host of others.
The presentation was done on behalf of the Assembly by the District Chief Executive, Hon Dr Maurice Jonas Woode and the District Budget Analyst, Mr. Kennedy Gyimah.
In attendance included the DCD, PM, F&A Chairman, Assembly members and other heads of Departments.
Also present were the District Chief Executives, Coordinating Directors and staff of the other districts which included Amansie Central, Amansie South, Amansie West and Obuasi East.
