REPORT ON HEALTH EDUCATION ON FOOD SCREENING, STRAY ANIMALS, ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION AT AMPUNYASE TOWNSHIP IN THE AKROFUOM DISTRICT

Environmental Health Officers at Akrofuom District Assembly as part of their mandate embarked on a health education exercise at Ampunyase. The exercise was geared by three (3) Environmental Health officers and one National Service Personnel.
The Unit Committee Secretary led the team to the chief’s Palace. As part of the Community entry, they had to formally introduce themselves to the chief and his elders.
The chief and his elders were happy of our visit and instructed the Unit Committee Secretary to lead the Environmental Health team to Kwame Owusu Information Center.
The town folks were educated on Environmental sanitary standard that must be practised in every household. Some of the things that were discussed are as follows;
- Proper disposal of waste
- Open defaecation
- Stray animal management
- Accumulation of waste water
- Personal hygiene practise among food vendors
- Communal Labour defaulters
