The District Chief Executive for Akrofuom District Assembly, Hon. Dr. Maurice Jonas Woode and the Member of Parliament, Hon. Alex Blankson has jointly presented a total of 400 dual desks to the education directorate of the Akrofuom district.

The dual desks were presented to ease the pressure of inadequate desks in the schools in the district.

This is also an in indication of the resolve of the leadership of the district to curb the challenges that are confronted by the education directorate in the district.

This brings to 400, the total number of desks presented to the education directorate in the district in the spate of two months.

In a short presentation to the directorate, the District Chief Executive said the Assembly is very much aware of the challenges that the directorate was facing and all efforts are being made to  address them be it accommodation, logistics, education materials, teaching and learning aids, infrastructure, motivation and others.

He also hinted of a sod cutting for the construction of a new classroom block at Nyamebekyere in the Sikaman electoral area of the district.

This will also add up to 16 the total number of schools that have been built from the scratch by the Assembly since it was created six years ago and handed over to the directorate for use.

The Member of Parliament, Hon. Alex Blankson also called for proper maintenance culture on the part of teachers and pupils who will be beneficiaries of the desks. He said proper maintenance will enable the authorities to channel resources to other needs of the directorate.

He also appealed for parents and pupils to prioritise their education since his outfit is also ensuring that all children of school going age get smooth transition from Junior High School to the Senior Secondary schools.

He revealed that his outfit has sponsored the final mock examination of Basic Education Certificate Examination candidates in the district and as the usual practice he will support all candidates with a mathematical sets and also support them with mattresses and trunks when they get admission to the secondary schools.

The District Director for Education, Mr. Jacob Anakpo received the items on behalf of the directorate and gave the assurance that the desks would be sent to schools that are in urgent need of them and also assured that they will be well catered for.
