The Deputy Minister for Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, Hon. Collins Ntim yesterday paid a working visit to the Akrofuom District.
His visit according to him was to familiarize himself with some of the major programs that are being undertaken by the government and their impact on the general public in the district.
Addressing the gathering which included Nananom, clergy, Assembly members and Heads of Departments, Hon. Ntim stated that government has introduced many programs aimed at improving the living conditions of Ghanaians and it now behoves on the district assemblies to implement them to the latter for the desired results.
He mentioned planting for food and jobs, planting for export and rural development, free senior high school, cashew planting and others as examples of these programs.
The District Chief Executive, Hon Maurice Jonas Woode also highlighted on some of the achievements of the assembly in the past four years since it’s creation. These achievements can be found in all the sectors of life – education, health, sanitation, rural electrification, social services, agriculture and others.
There were presentations from the Agriculture, Health and Education directorates of the Assembly to the gathering.
The Deputy Minister and his team were pleased with what the Assembly has achieved so far and called for more efforts in areas that shortfalls were identified.
Nananom also promised to continue to render their support to the Assembly to ensure that the district is well developed to meet the status it deserves.
