Akrofuom: Assembly Presents Another Set Of Desks To Schools

The Akrofuom District Assembly has presented another set of 200 metal dual desks to pupils in the Akrofuom District through the Education Directorate.

The presentation according to the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Maurice Jonas Woode is to help both teachers and pupils to have a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning and also to maintain social distancing in their classrooms.

Hon. Woode (DCE)

Presenting the items, Hon. Woode said the presentation is the third since the creation of the district three years ago stating that a total of about 1,600 dual desks and 37 teachers chairs and tables have already been supplied to the public schools in the district. Thus, the new consignment of 200 will add up to the already existing ones. Peculiar about this set is the fact that it is metal and durable.
Hon Woode again revealed that another consignment of desks are being expected in the next few weeks and is optimistic that the newly constructed schools by the Assembly at Aboagyekrom, Avonyo and Kofigyame will first be considered.
Hon. Woode also revealed that the funding of the desks is from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).

Mr. Abrokwah (Dist. Dir. Of Education)

The District Education Director, Mr. George Adu Abrokwah who received the items on behalf of the Directorate thanked the Assembly for the presentation and assured that they will be used appropriately to help ease the overcrowding in most of the classrooms.
He added that indeed the desks have come at an appropriate time that the schools have had more enrolment.

The beneficiary schools are Okyerekrom D/A, Akrofuom Methodist Primary, Akrofuom D/A, Havard J.H.S and Akrofuom R/C Primary schools all in Akrofuom township.
