The Akrofuom District Assembly has this week commissioned two state of the art toilet facilities in the Nana Okai electoral area.
The two state of the art toilet facilities with bathrooms are located at Akrofuom (20-seater) and Okyerekrom (12-seater)
Commissioning the facilities at two separate functions, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Maurice Jonas Woode revealed that the two toilets being commissioned forms part of the 16 earmarked toilet facilities that the Assembly commenced building about three years ago and are all at various stages of completion. He added that the two brings to six, the total number of completed toilet facilities since the inception of the Assembly.
Hon. Woode also said,
the Assembly was much concerned about the state of places of convenience of the people in the district thus all efforts being put in to complete the other remaining projects.
He added that the structures being used for places of convenience look very dilapidated and more of death traps waiting to cause havoc.
He also appealed to the public to own the structures by taking good care of them and not engaging in any acts that will cause it to degenerate in the shortest possible time but rather maintained well for other generations to come and make good use of them.
Hon. Woode again revealed that the two projects were built at a cost GHS 480,000 from District Assembly Common Fund and DPAT 3 respectively.
He appealed to the public to be patient with the Assembly as it continues to ensure that every community in the district is well developed. He encouraged them to continue to play their part by constantly paying their taxes to the Assembly.
For his part the District Coordinating Director for the Assembly, Mr. Ebenezer Douglas Ntiamoah also added that the projects were part of the Assembly’s resolve to ensure that it meets the 7th target of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which seeks to ensure environmental sustainability.
He also echoed the need for the public to take good care of the facility.
Nana Amoako Ogyampah, Odikro of Okyerekrom was full of praise for the DCE and the Assembly for the facility. He assured him that they will make good use of the facility and use that as a leverage for more developmental projects in the community.
He also appealed passionately to the President to renominate Hon. Woode as the Chief Executive for the Akrofuom District Assembly. He added that Hon. Woode has a great personality and very affable. Under his tenure, the developmental projects are visible in every community in the district.
The Assembly member for Nana Okai electoral area, Hon. Douglass Fosu Mensah also thanked the management of the Assembly for the many developmental projects that Okyerekrom has seen in the past years.
He also assured that the people of Okyerekrom will continue to partner the Assembly to develop district.
